Introduction
Unfortunately there is no known list of VFA footballers who have been policemen. If anyone has a list, I would be interested in including it on this site.
Clubs and Decades
The table below is a distribution of the 126 Police members in the table below. A person is counted multiple times if they played for multiple clubs.
The resulting table is revealing in the distribution of Police between the clubs and over the decades. There are a number of clubs such as Fitzroy and Carlton where there was a strong representation.
Information on Sources
The majority of this list is based on a list of Police Members who played VFL/AFL and SANFL in the 2011 SA Police News. Though I have been able to make a number of additions to that list.
Often it is not clear that the player was a serving member of the Police Force while playing football. There are probably a number of cases where the player only joined the Police after they had completed their playing career. This list also does not make clear how long the player was a member of the Police. For example, Laurie Nash was famously recruited, but did not stay very long.
Extended reseach will probably bring more names to light.
