LEAGUE FOOTBALLERS OF 1950-WING MEN By PERCY TAYLOR
BOB WILKIE, one of the veterans in a young ST. KILDA side, is giving the club good service this year. He is now in his 11th season, and, as a recognition of that long service, was recently made a life member of the club.
Slightly built, smiling, Bob's chief characteristic as a wing man- is his pace, particularly those first few yards (hat are so essential if one is to get a "break" from an opponent. He is a good ball handler, and a better-than average kick. Perhaps he is a little light for a wing man, but, in a team that has been scratching for players of that type, he has done a good job.
Bob is married, with one child, and lives in Emilton avenue, St. Kilda. He is a cricket enthusiast in the summer, playing with the West St.Kilda C.Y.M.S. He says, modestly, that he makes a few runs now and again, and plays it for relaxation. He is a telegraphist in the Post-office.
