LEAGUE FOOTBALLERS OF 1950 - WING MEN -Percy Taylor
Argus 10-Jun 1950 p7 Weekend Magazine
THE other wing position at Collingwood has been occupied by various players, but probably STAN SMITH has done more work there over the last three years than anyone else.
Stan graduated from a junior side "to the seconds, and eventually cached the senior side in 1947. He played 34 games up to the end of last season. Fairly solidly built, he has played his best football on the wing, where his pace and his ability in the air have been his greatest assets, in the summer he is interested in 'the sport of kings, believing that relaxation from active sport is necessary if one wants to return to the winter game with zest and enthusiasm.
Stan is married, with one child, and lives in Fitzroy. He is a motor driver by trade.
