LEAGUE FOOTBALLERS OF 1950-WING MEN By PERCY TAYLOR
NORTH MELBOURNE are most happy to have KEITH MCKENZIE playing on one wing. He is a real home product, as he started his football with the Colts-now known as the thirds. Then the war called, and he was in the services for three years. His first senior game was in 1944, and he was placed in the centre. He gave an exceptionally promising performance there, too, but a wing man was needed, and Keith was sent there. He is now in his seventh year, and is one of the most consistent players in the League. Congratulations were handed out to Keith several weeks ago when he completed his 100th game.
Tenacity is one of the features of his play. Ever since he joined the club he has always been a great fighter, and never gives up. He has now developed polish and finesse, too. with good position play, and, being taller than most wing men, he adds good marking to his armoury.
It was not surprising that he was chosen to play for Victoria in Western Australia two years ago. He is beautifully built, and a great believer in physical fitness. Keith is a motor mechanic, is married, and has two sons. At present he is living in St. Kilda, but will soon move to a house he is building at Moorabbin. He is a good swimmer, and divides this sport with cricket in the summer time.
