1950'S CROP OF NEW LEAGUE PLAYERS LOOKS GOOD Says Percy Taylor
Argus 2-Sep-1950 p10-11 Weekend Magazine
MELBOURNE has tried 10 new players this season, and the pick of them is Geoff McGiven, with Stuart Spencer a good second McGiven, who is only 19, and is 6ft 21in, is a Croydon boy He is fast and active, and is rather deceptive on the field He has a gangling kind of walk, but is full of life as he moves for the ball He is a good mark and kick, and has every chance of developing into a star He has plenty of grit, and his only trouble it the moment is lack of weight However he has added half a stone to his 12st despite solid training and should be ,a handy weight by next season
