LEAGUE FOOTBALLERS OF 1950 - -WING HALF - FORWARDS By PERCY TAYLOR
Argus 8-Jul-1950 p12 The Argus Week-End Magazine
ERN HENFRY, the usual centre man, began this year as a wing half-forward- a position that was his when he played for Western Australia against Victoria several years ago.
Henfry, who is a talented captain, had some difficulty in receiving a clearance from the West. He had to stand out of the game for a year, and when he came in 1947 he was appointed captain, and led his side to a premiership in that first season -a notable achievement. Officials knew something about him, however, as he had played a couple of games with the club while on R.A.A.F. duty in Melbourne.
The secret of his success is his remarkable powers of evasion, his position play, his disposal, and his coolness. He is a bank clerk, married, a father, and lives in Essendon.
