LEAGUE FOOTBALLERS OF 1950-FULL BACKS Percy Taylor

Argus 6-May-1950 P7

CLIVE PHILP did more of the full back's job than any other Hawthorn player last season. He is a splendid mark and kick and his ground play is excellent. He has developed spoiling tactics to a degree that makes him a nuisance to any full forward.

He was playing at Box Hill when he was discovered, but it took a lot of work before he "signed on the dotted line." Even when he was secured he went away after a few games in 1948, but returned and settled down well. His tally of games is 29. Clive is in the telephone department, and is married.
